Place des Vosges is known as one of the oldest and most harmonical squares of Paris. The square was opened in 1612 by King Heinrich Henry IV.

Place des Vosges is surrounded by restaurants and art galleries in noble pavilions. The pavilions have interesting frontage decorations of light natural stone, red brick facing, and grey slate roofs.
There is a little park in the centre of the square.
