The centre of the Parisian district Sentier is the street called “Rue du Sentier”. The place is known as former cloth manufacturer district around and along the Rue du Sentier.
There are still some cloth manufacturer left, who are working for the haute couture, but of course not in the same volume as in its glory past.
The attraction of Sentier is the square “Place de Victoires” with its elegant boutiques and glamorous shopping passages from the 19th century. This documents the glory past of the whole district.
Sentier is also the home of world famous shopping malls like the one from Lafayette or Printemps. But there is not only shopping in Sentier. Also banks and insurance companies have chosen the location of Sentier as perfect place for their French headquarters.

The view of the top from “Gallery Lafayette”, the glamorous shopping mall in the Parisian district of Sentier, over the roofs of the district.
This is one of the most important reasons that there are usually a lot of rich and elegant dressed people in the cafes and restaurants in this area.
Besides shopping and commerce, even art does not come off badly. Opera Ganier is located in this Parisian district, and in the Northern part of the district the visitor can find the famous artist and amusenent quarter called “Montmartre”. Montmatre can be found in the north of Sentier on a hill.
